| A
pioneer heritage gives Calgary a special energy and a dynamism. Foundet
and named in 1875 by Colonel James Macleod of the scarlet coatet Northwest
Mountain Police, Calgary is gaelic for “bay farm”. The area remindet
the colonel of Calgary Bay on the isle of Mull, Scotland. By 1888, Calgary´s
population was 75 people. A little more than a decade later the tiny
settlement was officially incorporated as a city. In 1912, a roaming trick
roper, Guy Weadick, and four of the areas wealthiest ranchers initiated
“the biggest frontier days show the world has ever seen”. The Calgary
Stampede was born. Today the Greatest Show on Earth is a powerful 10 days
of exciting entertaiment, glittering parades, rugged cowboys, and the west´s
most. ornery stock.
Calgary´s world class

exciting past for its 770000+ residents and millions of visitors from
